High Viz Horse Mission Statement

“I think it’s our responsibility to make ourselves and our Horses be seen to all other public road users’ and to gain their respect, and acknowledge theirs”

Well it all kicked off because although in my senior years, I bought another horse. Now his life although young was a story I couldn’t turn down and I will add that as an “item of interest” on this site. If your a horse lover you will love to read it.

As a child I had a “tough regime” upbringing. My Father wasn’t cruel, but certainly had strong views of how his house should be “run”. So we, being my Mum and Sister had to knuckle under and do as we were told if we wanted to stay. The other option was to leave and never go back. So ground rules accepted I stayed.

We had rules for Sundays, get up eat breakfast, keep quiet( whilst he read his Sunday Paper) and eat the Sunday roast, that Mum had spent all morning preparing and beautifully cooking. Sunday afternoon was then spent quietly, doing handicrafts, sewing, knitting, tapestry, weaving etc. you get the idea.

The story goes a lot further but to cut it short, i learnt a lot of ‘life skills’, which l use today for our family, friends and neighbours, who don’t have these abilities.

When I tried to buy High Viz things for my horse, l couldn’t find it available so I made it myself....thus the beginning of’ High Viz Horse’.

The first thing was leg pads that didn’t fall down and look all ‘Baggy’, so sourced what l would need to create them, and although my horse was scared of his own shadow l knew l would eventually get them on him, and oh wow they looked good and definitely did the job. A few changes and proto types were made and tested and have developed into what is available now on this web site, and the feedback from customers has been outstanding.

I took a sample to a local Saddler retailer who immediately did a deal with me to provide his shop with 12 packs and in return he provided me with a huge quantity of this Fantastic High Viz Orange fabric that they use in industry to start my ‘Hobby’ (he called it) off.

So it grew from Leg Pads to the ever increasing range that you see available today.

As I make it all I can supply most of what people have asked for, from riding and driving enthusiasts.

I would not have been able to do this on my own, so it is now ‘We’ as l get a huge amount of help and support from my now Husband ‘Rick’....Thank you xxx.

I started taking small amounts on a table to Equine Boot Sales locally, i received many compliments and comments from the interest shown also ideas and suggestions to increase my High Viz Range. Like many other designers l take onboard their requests and end up with very usable, practical and safe products.

Some ideas are for the Rider/Leader/Driver of horses so my range is still slowly growing.

This year 2019 I have also taken High Viz Horse to  county shows to promote,

The Be Safe Be Seen aspect of road users, and had tremendous feedback from car drives and Lorry drivers at how visible my product is, and how every horse, rider and cyclists should be wearing it. As they have seen it from a distance and had to come and look.  A compliment indeed.

My ‘scared of his own shadow’ horse Nemo is now my ‘Banner Boy’ wearing the products, for Photo shoots so l can display it wherever I can.
